Traveling down South!
Hi all...
My travels are taking me far away from NYC...as I cross state lines every day I learn something new from these artisans.
Enjoy the pics!

My first stop: The Moonlight BBQ in Owensboro, KY. One of the best barbecued mutton I've ever had!

I have never indulged in so many varieties of smoked bacon like I just did at "Father's Country Hams" here in Kentucky! Mmmmm...Hammm!

Today we went to "Schimpff's Confectionary" in Jeffersonville, IN. I had fresh Red Hots right out of the molding machine! Mr. Schimpff himself then showed me an antique candy dispenser! Cool!

Live from San Francisco!

Today we shot at "Chez Panisse", a wonderful restaurant owned by Alice Waters, with an exceptional pre-fixed menu! Imagine going to a restaurant where you had no choices to make, and best of all, the chefs concentrate on perfecting the days only menu. They treated us like royalty and showed us how organic Californian produce can make reasonably priced restaurant into one of the best places to eat near San Francisco. Merci chef Jean Pierre!
In addition, I took a quick walk in Chinatown and was greeted by "HOTS" fans who owned this lovely store. I was in heaven...pure Chinese heaven!

Traveling this month!

I'm traveling all across the US this month and will be updating my blog with pics and stories of my culinary voyages as I shoot "Secret Life Of...".
My first stop, sunny California. Even though the weather has been pretty mild (and wet) here in NYC, I'm looking forward to getting a tan!

HOTS DVD's

Amy from Angleton, TX asks:
When will HOTS's first season come out on DVD???
Amy,
Unfortunately there will be no HOTS DVD's. At this point you should expect more Food Network shows with me, but maybe not with HOTS.
Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere!
Best,
GD

Hope...

Janice from Saugus, CA writes:
With your hosting your new show, does that mean no more "Ham on the Street"?
Say it ain't so...
Janice,
I promise that you will be seeing more of me and my humor on the Food Network for many years to come. As to on which show...well, that's up to you. The more viewers there are, the more chances the show will remain.
If you wanna help out, then feel free to watch the "Ham on Turkey" Thanksgiving Special which first airs on November 14th at 9pm (Eastern).
Feel free to check out the other air dates here.
Oh, and for a little Thanksgiving teaser...check this out!
Best,
GD

Shooting in Sunny California...

Hi Everyone!
I'm shooting in California for the new show and seriously exploring the year round growing season out here. The foods tastes fresher, the air is cleaner (outside LA), and the cars seem shinier (don't ask why).
We've just finished shooting a segment at Chino Farms (aka the Vegetable Shop), in Rancho Santa Fe...a few miles from San Diego. This is where Wolfgang Puck first came to buy his vegetables when he came to California in 1975. These farmers harvest their fruits and vegetables every morning and sell to the local people and restaurants and offer the largest variety of produce I've ever seen. Pure heaven!
