While we've all been celebrating the pleasures of summer, Food Network Kitchens has been immersed in developing the holiday lineup of cookies for 12 Days of Cookies newsletter. Many of you may be be surprised to learn that the kitchen starts working on these recipes in May, allowing them months to test for the best method, flavor, storage and fun-factor.
Last week, they organized a tasting to get some fresh palates and insight into the project. After all, these poor souls have been eating butter, sugar and flour in a myriad of combinations for weeks on end.
Here we are, the Cookie Committee, hard at work. We're tasting and evaluating each cookie (and washing them down with ice-cold milk) to help assure you get the best cookies ever this December. As you can probably tell, we take our job very seriously.

Judging from our experience, this is going to be a very exciting cookie year — I think you’ll all be pleased. I wish I could tell you more, but we’ve been sworn to secrecy. Don’t forget to sign up for the 2007 12 Days of Cookies newsletter!

The 12 days of cookies? This is the first time I've heard of the 12 days of cookies. I'm a big cooking channel fan. How do you get a job as a cookie judge? What a way to make a buck. I can hardly wait to see the cookies you come up with.

I have subscribed to the 12 Days of Cookies in the past and have enjoyed making many of the recipes. I know the best of the best will be in store for us this year.

I've seen the 12 days of cookies since it's inception but wanted to know how one submits a recipe for consideration.
Thanks for any information

Hi Jim
All the recipes are developed by Food Network Kitchens. Sometimes Emeril has contests (contests are posted on the bottom of our home page)where you can enter cookies. Good luck!

I've subscribed in the past and now some of the 12 days of cookies recipies are now expected every single year.
Usually I'll bake 4 or more from each series.
Has anyone (not on the cookie committee) made all 12 recipes each year?

Hi Stephanie
We had a gluten-free cookie last year, Coconut-Cranberry Macaroon http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_34820,00.html and there will be another one this year — I just can't ruin the surprise and tell you what it is yet.

I would really appreciate it.

I can't wait till the new cookies come out! I don't purchase presents, instead I spend tons of time making cookies, breads, and pastries to give out in lieu. The 'traditional' is getting old and need some new ones to try. Thanks food network, I have made many already this month and am waiting for some new ones. Keep 'em rolling! I CAN'T WAIT !

I love to bake and am always looking for new recipes to try. The 12 Days of Cookies is something I anticipate for months! I've yet to try each recipe for one season, but I enjoy reading the recipes and learning about various flavor combinations.

Like Stephanie, I need gluten free cookie recipes. I am desparately trying to find a Giada cookie recipe that used to be on the food network site. It was a lacy almond (very thin) sandwich cookie with chocolate in the middle. It was my favorite cookie recipe before I became gluten intolerant. There was very little flour in it, so I'm hoping I can adapt it. I emailed the Everyday Italian show, but got no response. Can anyone dig up this recipe?

I have to say I'm disappointed with the cookies so far. I like creativity, but they're all so far out of the mainstream that none of them are suitable to give for Christmas. Thanks for all your hard work, but next time, remember it's for Christmas!

I thoroughly enjoy the 12 Days of Cookies and have added the 12 Days to part of my holiday traditions. I'd like to see a few "healthier alternatives" once in a while, for those who are watching their diet and weight a little.
Keep up the good work!

I love the 12 days of Christmas cookies but they all need eggs. Our grand daughter is allergic to eggs and we would love some eggless recipes for cookies and any other holiday treats.
